Anh Dao Restaurant

Tucked into the vibrant stretch of Spadina Avenue, Anh Dao Restaurant serves up Vietnamese comfort food in the heart of downtown Toronto. If you’ve ever wandered Chinatown in search of authentic phở or crave-worthy bún thịt nướng, this place has likely popped up on your radar. It's that kind of spot - the one you hear about from friends who know where to eat.

Step inside, and you’re greeted with the warm aroma of simmering broth and sizzling lemongrass. The vibe? Totally casual, completely unpretentious - just how a real Vietnamese restaurant should feel. Whether you’re sitting down for a relaxed dine-in experience or grabbing a quick bite to-go, Anh Dao delivers that homestyle flavor with zero fuss.

Their menu hits all the right notes. From small plates like crispy spring rolls to steaming bowls of beef noodle soup, it’s a line-up that’s equal parts familiar and satisfying. And if you're into healthy options, they’ve got plenty - light, herb-packed dishes that don’t skimp on flavor. The kind of meals that leave you full, but never heavy.

Now, let’s talk drinks. You can pair your meal with a cold beer or even opt for something stronger - yes, they serve alcohol too. Not in the mood? A robust Vietnamese coffee will keep you going, especially if you're catching up with friends or on a solo lunch break.

The best part? Convenience. Anh Dao Restaurant offers delivery, takeaway, and no-contact options for those nights when you want Vietnamese comfort without leaving the couch. But honestly, dropping by in person is worth it. There’s something special about seeing your bowl of phở arrive steaming hot at your table, just seconds out of the kitchen.

From fast service to flavorful food, Anh Dao strikes a perfect balance - easygoing yet full of character. Whether you're a longtime fan of Vietnamese cuisine or just diving in, this spot makes every visit feel like a little trip back to Saigon.

So far my new favourite place for pho. It was delicious and comforting. I got their house special pho that comes with rare beef, beef brisket, tripe and beef balls. Great portion sizes. The meat quantity was generous. The fresh shrimp rolls were very filling.

I was of the camp that a reliable and authentic Vietnamese restaurant had to look a little rough around the edges to be worth visiting. After trying Anh Dao with its cute and colourful sign, beautiful mural, and hanging red lanterns, I have been proven wrong. The quality of Anh Dao’s food matches that of the decor. The beef rib pho that is only available on weekends is fantastic. The meat easily comes off the bone and is just as good with or without the sweet and tangy dipping sauce. The broth is flavourful and the noodles are generous. The vermicelli bowl with pork and spring roll is equally delicious. It is a healthy serving of noodles, vegetables, and the tastiest marinaded pork. Some restaurants have an edge over soup noodles and some over vermicelli bowls but Anh Dao serves up 5 stars for both. Excited to try the specialty wraps next time!

The pho and bun Bo hue were perfect. Exactly how we like it. It’s on the pricier side but it taste great. Highly recommend!

Anh Dao at 383 Spadina Ave. One of the best self wrap served up in downtown Toronto. We had the beef & shrimp wrap served with plenty of fresh herbs, cucumber, bean sprouts, bun etc. The Pho Suon Bo (Beef Rib Pho) was also pretty good but after having the self wrap dish ... we were pretty full so we will have to come back and have the pho as a main dish. And the staff ... there are few places in chinatown that has good staff but this place by far bests the Toronto standards. #ahndao #foodie #toronto #chinatowntoronto

A bustling old fashioned cafe style Vietnamese cafe where food is the main event. We went for dinner three days in a row and each time we had the papaya salad - hands down the best we have ever had. We tried 2 types of pho - beef rib, meatball, the bun with grilled pork and beef wrapped in betel leaf, the specialist dish with the betel beef wrap, the specialist dish with prawn wrapped in marinated beef. Everything was super tasty, bursting with favour and authentic (at least by our standards)!

Incredible food here. I had the weekend special beef rib Pho and it exceed my expectation. Two giant ribs with a big bowl. The meat is very tender and the both is incredibly savoury. The decor is modern and spacious. Would definitely come back to try other things in the menu.

Parents went here in the 90s and have always said how amazing their pork sausages are! Went today for the first time and got V7 (grilled pork, pork sausages and spring rolls with vermicelli noodles). So so good! Lovely staff and beautiful artwork on the walls. Will be back soon
